Motivating One Another Towards Love and Good Works

The Navigators’ ‘Discipling for Development’ (D4D), is a Five-Phase process of bringing transformation to communities living on the margins, through Whole- Life discipleship so that they will become all that God intends for them. In the past year we carried out the Preparation and Exploration phase, which resulted in the selection of Chalino, a rural community near Potiskum, Yobe state.

On 7th-8th March 2025, we embarked on the Mobilization phase which involved constituting a Community Development Committee (CDC). The plan is to work with the CDC to identify a development need and collaborate with them using their God- given resources to improve their livelihood wholistically (Spiritually, Socially, and Economically). This process will enable us develop relationships through which the gospel will be proclaimed and modelled. Our contact person organized an initial meeting between our team and six members of the community with whom we discussed the modalities for constituting the CDC.

Emmanuel Richard, a motivated student from Federal University Lafia, was among the first students we contacted on campus. He took the initiative to gather four friends during our recruitment drive. Seeing a need for more frequent meetings, he offered not only to find a venue on campus but also to lead weekly Bible studies, explaining that our monthly visits were too infrequent.  We later invited him, alongside others, to our zonal conference in Jos. After attending, he declared, “Now I am a full Navigator.” Emmanuel also pledged to recruit many of his friends next year as fellow Navigators.

Just as Andrew recruited Simon—and Simon Philip, who then brought Nathaniel. We pray that this multiplication pattern will continue in this ministry outreach.
