Faithful Fruit

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it.” (2 Timothy 3:14)

Our friendship with Praise Felix began in 2018, during his first year. We had joint Bible studies, clarified the Gospel with him, and taught him how to share it with others. His heart is now overflowing with compassion for those without Christ.

At our graduate hangout in March, Praise shared his testimony: “Through my time with you, I gained a deeper understanding of life and godliness, which is a treasure in my heart. I learned how to study Scripture, developing a love for the Word. I realized that God, the Word, and the souls of men are eternal. It was fulfilling to see my desire and efforts to disciple others bear fruit, and I hope to continue investing in others.”

After graduating, while awaiting NYSC, Praise chose to stay in Gombe for further help. He has shared the Gospel and recruited seven students into a small Bible study group, which he leads. They’re currently working on cultivating a habit of Quiet Time.

We’re grateful to God for Praise’s journey. Please pray for him, as Isaiah 60:22 says, “The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation.”

One of our objectives this semester is to encourage key students like Gayus to take initiative in sharing the Gospel with others using the Bridge Illustration. We organized a seminar on some evangelical tool (OBTC; Opening, Bridge, Testimony & Closing). According to Gayus, he found the OBTC tool interesting and different from preaching. It provided a dialogue-based approach that allowed the listeners to participate. He further shared ‘ I shared with three people, feeling nervous beforehand but joyful during and after sharing. I met a Muslim who had never read the Bible before; they read it for the first time and asked questions I couldn’t answer. I also met a believer who appreciated how the Gospel became clearer to them through OBTC.’

Please pray for greater courage to share the Gospel and depth of God’s word for Gayus. Serving the Lord In Gombe, Temitope and Shedrack Maruku with our daughters (Sarayu and Mariah)
